Favorite track: Valhalla Hammering.

David Fischer Valhalla Hammering sounds like a summary of Mantar's work until now: in a mere 7 minutes, one seemingly travels through all their albums, especially Astral Kannibal and Cross the Cross come to mind. Hanno's distinctive vocals, the usual gargantuan groove and Erinc's absolute battering are as addictive as ever. This experience is enhanced by the stellar production of their most recent album and a scope reminiscent of their arguably best track (so far!), Odysseus. Pure magnificence.

Daniel Schmidt Der Song bildet die komplette musikalische Mantarreise ab. Von Astral Kannibal über Ode To The Flame zu Pain is Forever …

Dabei melodiös, aggressiv, groovig, abwechslungsreich, gar zart bisweilen... ...völlig geil!
Der Text würde mich zum nachlesen interessieren.

about

MANTAR Hamburg, Germany

MANTAR manages to sound heavier than most five piece bands you may know, in spite of the fact that no bass guitar was used on this record. Just drums and guitar set for destruction. Forget about Rock 'n Roll. This will hurt. Flogging beats and blackened melodies meet feedback orgies and doom mayhem. Early Melvins, Motorhead, Darkthrone. You name it. Don't call it sludge though. ... more
